52 AUDIT CYCLE EXAMINING QUALITY IMPROVEMENT POST EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT MULTI-DISCIPLINARY SIMULATION BASED MEDICAL EDUCATION TRAINING ON HIP FRACTURE CARE

Abstract Background The care of patients with hip fractures is a surrogate marker trauma care. Irish Fracture Standard 1 involves fracture being admitted to an orthopaedic ward bed within 4 hours attending the ED. We wanted audit our current practice and introduce quality improvement project improve timeliness efficiency compared gold standard IHFS 1. introduced 90 minute multidisciplinary simulation training programme on pathway ED in February 2021. All key stakeholders were represented; from Emergency Medicine, Orthopaedics, Nursing (EM Orthopaedic), Radiology, Radiography, Porters (32 people overall). Because COVID-19, was available person online via Zoom. Methods performed retrospective presenting TUH proximal third femur between 4th 31st March inclusive 2020 2021, pre post introduction based medical education pathway. Data collected electronic record database (Symphony). recorded following data; Results n = 31. Average time ward—8 hrs 29 mins. 26% reached <4 hours.
